On Saturday, August 10, in Lviv, the NGO Feminist Workshop held the event “Menstruation is Diverse, and That’s OK!” to raise awareness among Lviv residents about the important issue of menstruation stigma. Community members attended the event.
“Menstruation is a natural process. It is as normal as flowers growing or fruits ripening.
Society has turned this process into a taboo, something to be ashamed of.
Many people are unaware of what menstruation is when they first experience it, and they might think they are dying. Others might not know that menstrual fluid is not blue, as depicted in advertisements.
This is not normal. As a society, we need to address this issue. Therefore, we advocate for openly acknowledging that menstruation is natural and beautiful, and there is no need to be ashamed or speak about it only in whispers,” the organization’s team states.
We also plan to continue our media campaign to normalize the topic of menstruation. Our goal is to contribute to creating a society where everyone feels comfortable and free.
