Recently, Feminist Workshop, together with the rehabilitation center UNBROKEN Ukraine, organized a retreat for women from families of service members and veterans. It took place in Slavske.
The location for rest was the MS6 Art Residency, chosen to fully absorb the calm of the mountains and recharge.
At the retreat, we:
- had a deeper introduction to the philosophy and architecture of MS6,
- hiked in the mountains,
- held a percussion masterclass,
- sang around the campfire,
- talked a lot and enjoyed delicious food.
Such programs are vitally important for supporting the resources of women going through similar experiences.
Instead of a thousand words, we share a poem by our participant Lesia Liv, who bravely shared her creativity with us (for which we are immensely grateful):
This year I was strong,
And walked a difficult path.
I want to be happy next year,
Otherwise, there’s no way beside him.
This year I was strong,
For myself, for him — for both.
I want to be happy next year.
We will break through, God sees.
This year I was strong.
Where does that strength come from in me?
I want to be happy next year.
What remains? Just a few days.
This year I was strong
Day by day living my pain.
I want to be happy next year
I deserve this happiness for myself.
