The cardiologist and lecturer from the Lviv community center told the elderly women about reducing risks for dementia.

The event was meant to raise awareness of dementia, its types, potential causes, and first symptoms. The lecturer has emphasized that at first signs of cognitive impairments, one needs to seek medical help. Elderly women are highly susceptible to dementia due to hormonal changes, comorbid diseases, and social isolation.

That’s why the information was relevant and useful for the participants!

Detected in time, dementia progress may be slowed down.

The participants learned the integral aspects of a healthy lifestyle integral for preventing cognitive impairments. These include regular physical activity, a balanced diet, cognitive activity, and maintaining social connections.

During the discussions, women shared their personal experiences of taking care of their relatives with dementia, asked follow-up questions about early diagnostics and prevention of dementia, and did the exercises to check their ability to remember and reproduce the information.
