This year, we organized a series of lectures for older women, where we talked about digital skills and ways to improve daily life.

These events became a space for support and for sharing useful information that all project participants could benefit from.

We’re excited to share some success stories from the project!

Maria’s Success Story

Maria attended digital literacy classes in October. After these sessions, she became more interested in the services available online.

Not long ago, Maria received a notification to pay her electricity bill. In the past, she would always take care of it at the bank branch. However, this time she was sick and couldn’t leave her home.

During the course, Maria learned how to use the Privat24 app and her personal account on her electricity provider’s website. The instructors carefully explained the app’s functions during the lessons.

Thanks to this knowledge and the notes she took during the classes, she was able to log into her online account and pay her bill right from her smartphone without leaving home.

Maria later shared her experience with her neighbor, who had never used online banking and still paid her utilities at the Ukrposhta branch. Maria promised to help her friend by explaining the app and helping her install it on her phone.

Halyna’s Success Story

After retiring, Halyna was looking for ways to stay active and involved in community life. She especially felt isolated after moving to a new region due to the war.

When Halyna experienced chronic pain in her lower back, she faced difficulty booking a doctor’s appointment in Lviv — there were always long lines at the registration desk, and she couldn’t get through on the hotline. Because of her health, she had to miss out on events where she hoped to meet friends.

Through the courses, Halyna learned how to use medical portals and how to book appointments online. She created a profile on the Helsi.me website.

Halyna shared that she successfully used the site to schedule an appointment with her family doctor — the one she had signed a declaration with — without standing in lines or waiting endlessly.

Halyna lives in a compact housing settlement and often shares common spaces (like the kitchen) with her neighbors. One evening, during a conversation, a neighbor asked about her back, remembering Halyna’s struggles with medical queues. In response, Halyna shared her experience with the group and recommended using Helsi.me.
