“How to maintain a healthy brain while aging” is a lecture by Alla Solod, a neurobiologist and a doctor of science. 👩🔬
At the event, she explained how neural pathways can be destroyed and regenerated (yes, they do regenerate), how our diet may be beneficial for our brain functioning, and how it all can be used to improve the quality of life.
Women also learned about the set of exercises that improve neuroplasticity and boost cognitive function. Mindful of how difficult it is to bring changes to your everyday routine, Alla asked listeners to come up with a roadmap right on the spot. She emphasized that they need to be realistic and gentle to themselves because as a rule of thumb, punishments are not efficient for long-term motivation. ☝️
Listeners shared the challenges they face that prevent them from doing the exercises efficiently, such as being internally displaced, and as a result, losing social networks or lacking funds. When you are aware of the processes happening in your head, you can adjust your habits to improve well-being, coming up with realistic, doable ways to care about your brain. 😌
