What should I do when I see someone being harassed or confronted with aggression on the street? How should I respond appropriately to help? How can I support someone I know if I suspect they are experiencing violence? And how can I do this without putting myself at risk?
On August 17, we gathered in the comfortable space of the First Lviv Mediatheque to find answers to these and other pressing questions and to raise awareness on the topic of combating gender-based violence.
We watched videos, analysed potential abuse situations and responses to them, and generated ideas for safe intervention based on an algorithm shared by our workshop facilitator, Yaryna Degtyar.
The assistance of a random (even unfamiliar) bystander or a close person can become a lifeline that helps someone break free from the cycle of violence or escape a traumatic situation.
We firmly believe that empathy, awareness of the issue, and a willingness not to remain indifferent are the foundations of a safe society!
This event was made possible with the support of the RFSL Ukraine Program.
