WHAT: English Speaking Club: Public and private in 21st century
WHERE: Feminist Workshop – Rynok square 42 (entrance from the courtyard)
WHEN: September 5 at 19:00
Feminist workshop invites you to the English club.
On our meeting we will discuss some important definitions and historical allusions that are used by feminists in order to reflect on the society; namely – private and public spheres. Feminists have noticed that discrimination in the 19 century could be described in terms of the private sphere as perceived by people – sphere of home and family, and public sphere – law, politics, media, education, trade etc.
The first one was associated with women, while the other was considered a men’s domain.
A lot have changed now, and Feminist Workshop invites you to reflect on the modern situation and to think, how the dichotomy of public and private today helps us to describe our experiences and to discuss problems.
🔹 Topics are discussed in a relaxed and happy environment and we welcome people of all genders to join. We want the English club to be LGBTQ and female friendly, so any form of intolerant speech is not acceptable.
🔹 Speaking club is moderated by Sasha Kantser, Feminist Workshop activist and young researcher (history).
